Startup Validation
Startup Validation
The process of testing with real evidence rather than opinion whether a problem is real and significant enough, and whether people will act on a solution to it, before investing in building that solution.
Interviewing 12 small-business owners about how they currently track expenses, and finding 9 of them have abandoned a spreadsheet for the same reason, is validation evidence. A survey where 80% say "I’d probably use that" is not.
Why it matters
Validation exists to catch a bad idea cheaply, before it becomes an expensive one. The cost of being wrong grows every month you build without checking. Validation helps keep that cost low in the earliest stage.
